Book=Life
With this trinational project, Münster is working with the Polish twin city of Lublin and its Ukrainian twin city of Lviv to develop ideas and tools on how books can help children and young people cope with emotions.
The background is psycho-emotional challenges for young people in the face of the Covid 19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and climate change. Books should be used to help them process emotions more easily during these crisis-ridden times.
The project is supported by the EU program "Creative Europe". For this purpose, the International Office in the Department for Citizen and Council Services of the City of Münster is working closely with Burg Hülshoff - Center for Literature, the interdisciplinary literature center of the Annette von Droste zu Hülshoff Foundation and the Münster Public Library.
Book=Life attended the Night of the Libraries 2023
At the Night of the Libraries on March 17, 2023, children, parents and those interested were able to share their insights on literature at the Book=Life booth. At the end of the evening, reflections on favorite books and the emotions associated with them were found on a life-size "first aid book" on display. Those who couldn't write yet simply drew something. In addition to the interactive wall, there are also posters which are ideal decoration for a child's room. The posters are designed and illustrated by Ukrainian artist Alina Odynets and are available from us upon request. The posters feature quotes from three popular German children's book authors in Ukrainian, Polish, German and English.
