Apostelkirche
Muenster’s first purely Gothic church, erected in 1270, is also the city’s oldest place of worship. For more than 500 years, it was the monastery church for the Franciscan Minor friars before being transferred to the Protestant civil parish as a garrison church for the Prussian military forces in 1840. The important vault paintings date from the 15th-17th Centuries and the old chimes from the three Amsterdam bells from 1675 are still fully intact.
