Change of address in Münster
You are moving within Münster?
Tip: EU citizens as well as people from Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein can also register online (Service descripton). Requirement: You have an eID card.
For registering the change of address (registration) we need
- your identity card and/or passport
- the form "Change of Address / Deregistration at the Residents' Registration Office"
- Confirmation of landlord
The registration form must be signed by you personally and presented in a citizens' affairs office. You can get further explanations on the form.
Confirmation of landlord - In the registration process at the registration office one needs to present a certificate issued by the landlord or the home owner confirming the new address. The presentation of the rental contract is not sufficient.
You should register in a citizens' affairs office within two weeks after moving in. As a rule, changing an address beforehand is not a good idea since identity documents and car documents cannot be changed in advance. Resident Parking Permits are also only issued after a move has taken place. You may have someone represent you at the presentation of the registration form.
There are no charges for changing an address if the deadlines are met.
Your car is moving with you? Then get information on the pages (in german laguage) of the KFZ-Zulassungsstelle (Motor Vehicle Registration Office). You can also have us change the address on the vehicle registration document (Anschriftenänderung im Fahrzeugschein).
And where do you want to park? Resident parking zones (Bewohnerparkzonen) are furnished in the city centre. We can give you Resident Parking Permits (Bewohnerparkausweise) as well.
Please note: For reasons of data protection we can only hand over registration certificates to you in person or send them per post to the registered address. If a third party applies for the registration certificate, please give this person a qualified authorization (Vollmacht) as well as your identity card. This also applies to family members, spouses and children of legal age.
