Delegation visit from Tamale
During the visit to Münster in June 2022, both city municipalities have agreed on the fact that two cultural projects to raise awareness on the Global Sustainability Goals (SDGs) should be implemented together by the end of this summer: The ‘Glokal Mural’ project in Münster together with the association ‘Vamos e.V.’ and, among others, an artist from Tamale for the participatory design of a wall facade concerned with the SDGs and the theatre project together with the association ‘Cactus Young Theater e.V.’ in Tamale.
In medium term, a municipal exchange on the topic of ‘water/sewage/climate adaptation measures’ is to be carried out, possibly with the involvement of the FiW at RWTH Aachen University with their current RAIN climate adaptation project located North of Tamale. Additionally, both city municipalities have expressed the will to support the newly emerging student, teacher, and research exchanges between the FH Münster, the KSHG, and the WWU with institutes in Tamale. Moreover, in the area of vocational education and training, the possibility for an international project together with the ‘District guild of craftsmen of Steinfurt, Warendorf’ is considered and simultaneously contact with the already-existing school partnership between the ‘Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg’ and ‘Berekum’ in Ghana is established. First ideas for a possible long-term cooperation were also exchanged. A return visit in Tamale is planned for September 2022.
Münster’s international office has received the guests in cooperation with the office for mobility and civil engineering and the stakeholder’s circle from Ghana, a loose association of Ghana-affine representatives, including - among others - the Westphalian Wilhelm University, the University of Applied Science in Münster, the Catholic Student Community, the Hans-Böckler Berufskolleg, the Chamber of Crafts in Münster, the Advisory Council for Communal Development Policies, the Diocese of Münster, the Parish Community, the Eyerund Foundation, the Forum for Ghana NRW e.V., Maaka e.V. and the FiW at the RWTH Aachen.
