Twinning
Town twinning with Münster
The partnership between Münster and Kristiansand began in Orléans. The French city had regularly invited delegations from its twin towns, Kristiansand and Münster, to the Jeanne d’Arc festivities. The guests from Germany and Norway got to know and grew fond of each other. In November 1967, a delegation from Kristiansand, led by Mayor Leo Tallaksen, came to Münster, and expressed the wish to establish a partnership with Münster. On December 18, 1967, the City Council of Münster, under the chairmanship of First Mayor Dr. Albrecht Beckel, unanimously decided to gratefully accept the offer made by the Kristiansand delegation.
The meetings which today are mainly arranged between schools, universities and on a private level are just as informal and spontaneous as the first contacts back in 1967. Fortunately, artists and some choirs stay in contact, too. The Partnership Association Münster – Kristiansand offers all citizens of Münster both travel opportunities to and information about Norway.
50 years of town twinning Münster – Kristiansand
50 vouchers for Kristiansand
First Mayor Markus Lewe was the one to hand over 50 vouchers for the 50th anniversary in Kristiansand. Guests from Kristiansand can redeem these anniversary vouchers, provided by citizens, hotels and restaurants as well as some associations from Münster, when visiting the city in 2017 and 2018. In return, the Mayor of Kristiansand, Harald Furre, surprised everyone with 50 vouchers for citizens of Münster.
Introducing Kristiansand!
