Westfälisches Pferdemuseum im Allwetterzoo Münster (Westphalian Horse Museum in the Münster All-weather zoo)
The Westfälisches Pferdemuseum, opened in autumn of 2002, has provided the Münster All-Weather zoo with a further attraction. A thousand square metres of exhibition space in the museum’s new building are dedicated to the the natural and cultural history of the horse and of equestrianism in Westphalia. Historic objects combined with modern media techniques and interactive stations provide insights into the changing relationship between man and horse from early times to the present day. With exhibits like a horse grave from the Early Middle Ages, the stuffed skin of the celebrated stud horse "Polydor" or the installation with a pit pony, the exhibition casts an unusual light on the subject of the horse.
The adjoining training-ring "Hippomaxx" serves as a forum for events concerning horses. Visit the home page of the Westfälisches Pferdemuseum for current events.
