Certificate of residential status
The right to reside provides for the following certificates of residential status:
- Visa
- Temporary residence permit
- EU Blue Card
- ICT card
- Mobile ICT card
- Settlement permit
- EU permit for permanent residency
- Residence card for family members of EU citizens
Except for the visa, the permits are issued as electronic certificates of residential status (German: eAT). The foreign nationals office decides on the validity of the application and the type of certificate of residential status and transmits the data, including a passport photograph and fingerprints, to the Federal Printing Office. There, the electronic certificate of residential status is produced and then sent to the relevant authority for issuance.
Important: Ideally, you should allow about three weeks from the application to the receipt of the certificate of residential status. Therefore, please contact us in good time before the expiry of your residence permit via the appointment request form. You can also apply for the issue or extension of many residence permits online and submit the documents this way.
Depending on the reason for your stay in Münster, different documents are required for the issue / extension of your residence permit. We would thus request that you visit the relevant web page to obtain further information pertaining to your situation.
