February 24th: The Peace Chain
On February 24th, the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, around 20,000 people came together in rainy weather to form a human chain between the peace halls of Münster and Osnabrück to sent a clear signal for peace. The closing of the chain at 4 p.m. was accompanied by the ringing of bells from the churches along the route. This was followed by a minute's silence, after which participants sang the song "Give Peace A Chance" by John Lennon together.
The peace chain was organized by Friedensforum Münster, an association including the Münster Peace Initiative and the DFG-VK Münster as well as the OFRI with the support of the cities of Münster and Osnabrück.
