Sicherer und komfortabler auf der Schillerstraße radeln
Die Schillerstraße ist 1990 als erste Fahrradstraße in Münster ausgewiesen worden. Als Abschnitt der Veloroute Everswinkel – Münster und zentrale Verbindung zwischen dem Hauptbahnhof und dem Südosten Münsters sind hier viele Radfahrende unterwegs.
Fahrradstraßen sind Anliegerstraßen, bei denen der Radverkehr Vorrang vor jeder anderen Verkehrsart hat. In ihrer aktuellen Ausgestaltung bietet die Schillerstraße zwischen Bremer Platz und Hansaring jedoch keinen geschützten und komfortabel zu befahrenden Straßenraum für Radfahrende: Beidseitig mit Kfz beparkt, sind Begegnungsverkehre nur schwer möglich. Auch die Gefahr durch unaufmerksam geöffnete Autotüren steigt. Insbesondere an Kreuzungsbereichen ist die Situation für Verkehrsteilnehmende oft unübersichtlich.
Aus diesem Grund wird die Schillerstraße nach den 2019 politisch beschlossenen Qualitätsstandards umgestaltet. Der Umbau wird voraussichtlich ab dem zweiten Halbjahr 2024 beginnen.

Fahrradstraße aktuell
Die Schillerstraße ist heute bereits eine Fahrradstraße, in der der Radverkehr Vorrang vor allen anderen Verkehrsarten hat. Es gilt eine Maximalgeschwindigkeit von 30 km/h und Radfahrende dürfen nebeneinander herfahren. Mit den im Jahr 2019 politisch beschlossenen Qualitätsstandards für Fahrradstraßen ist entschieden worden, schrittweise die bestehenden und geplanten Fahrradstraßen dementsprechend umzugestalten.

Die Qualitätsstandards geben u. a. eine Fahrgassenbreite von 4-5 Metern vor. Aktuell wird die Schillerstraße beidseitig geparkt, wodurch die Fahrgasse nur 3-3,5 Meter breit ist. Damit Radfahrende sicher und komfortabel vorankommen, wird das Parken zukünftig nur noch einseitig möglich sein. Damit alle Verkehrsteilnehmenden erkennen, dass sie auf einer Fahrradstraße unterwegs sind, wird die Fahrbahn rot eingefärbt.
Zudem werden Fahrradanlehnbügel errichtet, um die Gehwege von abgestellten Fahrrädern freizuhalten und so mehr Platz für Fußgängerinnen und Fußgänger zu schaffen.
Kraftfahrzeuge werden vom Hansaring nicht mehr in die Schillerstraße ein- oder ausfahren dürfen. Durch die geplante geänderte Verkehrsführung für Autos sollen Kfz-Durchgangs- und Schleichverkehre auf der Fahrradstraße minimiert werden. Insbesondere Kinder, Jugendliche und Familien profitieren aufgrund ihres Nutzungsverhaltens von autoarmen und damit "geschützten" Straßenräumen.
Geplant ist weiterhin, zwei neue Bäume auf diesem Teil der Schillerstraße zu pflanzen.
Aktuelle Baustelleninformationen
Stand: 23. September 2024
Am 23. September beginnen die Vorarbeiten, für die eine Sperrungen für den Kfz-Verkehr zwischen der Soester Straße und der Dortmunder Straße notwendig ist, da hier zunächst noch Kanalarbeiten durchgeführt werden.
- Radfahrende können das Baufeld während der Vorarbeiten passieren.
In den Herbstferien wird die vorhandene Asphaltdeckschicht ausgebaut und durch eine neue, rote Asphaltschicht ersetzt. Diese Arbeiten werden tagsüber unter Vollsperrung der Fahrbahn durchgeführt.
- Während der gesamten Bauzeit bleiben die Häuser über die Gehwege erreichbar.
Beteiligungsformate
